| VERA KIEFER Murray’s a good boy, that’s all you need to know. He’s a lot better than the guy I think was his father. Played in a rock band. I heard later that his bus went off the road in Idaho and killed everybody but the drummer. But I’m not sure if that’s true. I am sure the odds are stacked against a woman making it on her own. I do the best I can. It’s just a matter of time until I meet the right man to take care of me the rest of my life. Murray too. I read that relationships are like two trees. You got to grow your branches together. That’s what they say. I know Murray doesn’t like all the men I meet but you know what else they say: “Practice makes perfect.” That’s the way I’m going find the right guy. Besides, I’ve been able to make the rent and utilities and that’s pretty good for somebody on their own. I got a pretty good singing voice too, but I never get time to work on it. They don’t tell you that. |
